A Secret of the Andes, Whispered to the World.
A Guardian of Tradition
The Maison
Atelier Amauta is a maison devoted to the rarest natural fibres of the Andes, built around vicuña, the most precious fibre on earth, once reserved for Incan royalty. In Quechua, amauta is the guardian of traditions, keeper of ancestral knowledge, the one who carries the story forward.
The maison works in direct partnership with Argentine communities whose savoir-faire has been passed down across generations, from the high puna to the Patagonian steppe. Their craft and their living knowledge are at the origin of every piece the house creates.
Vicuña, guanaco, and other exceptional fibres native to this territory, each one chosen for its rarity, its character, and the story it carries.
Throws, cushions and other interior pieces, each made by order, each unique, each fully traceable to its place of origin.
Our Fibres

Andean Puna
Vicuña
The finest natural fibre produced by any living animal. The vicuña is a wild camelid of the high Andean puna, living above 4,000 metres, free and untameable. Each strand is naturally hollow, giving the fibre an exceptional lightness and warmth without weight. For centuries it was reserved for Incan royalty alone, forbidden to all others. Today, it remains the rarest fibre in the world.

Patagonia
Guanaco
The fibre of Patagonia. The guanaco is a fellow Andean camelid native to the vast Patagonian steppe, and its fibre rivals the finest cashmere in softness while surpassing it in rarity and traceability. Entirely Argentine, deeply rooted in the same territory and the same conviction as the house.
“Once reserved for Inca royalty, treasured as the fibre of the gods.”
New Fibres & Materials
In Development
Atelier Amauta is working alongside Andean communities to bring new exceptional fibres and materials into the maison. Each addition will carry the same standard as those before it: genuine origin, living craft, and a story worth telling.

An Ancestral Ritual
Our Craft
Once a year, the communities of the puna gather for the chaku, an ancestral ceremony in which the vicuña herd is guided together, each animal sheared carefully by hand and released back to the mountain unharmed. Atelier Amauta works in direct partnership with these communities so that they may carry out this ritual on their land, in their time, as it has always been done.
Each vicuña yields only a few hundred grams of fibre per shearing. From this scarcity, the fibre travels to the maison's atelier in the Andes, where it is processed and prepared before reaching the hands of artisans whose knowledge has been inherited across generations.
Every piece is woven by hand.
The Collection
The Art of Living
We create throws, cushions, and interior pieces in vicuña and guanaco, each made by order, each one an invitation to bring a living craft into your interior.
Beyond these creations, the maison accepts a limited number of bespoke commissions, developed in close collaboration with the collector. A conversation about their world, a vision, a material. From there, a piece that could not exist anywhere else.
The maison also works with select interior architects and designers on dedicated projects for private residences, yachts, private jets, and hospitality.
